Lai Shi Founder of Wanfangge, initiator of traditional Chinese medicine formula inheritance
A traditional Chinese medicine practitioner and expert in health preservation through the integration of medicine and food
Mr. Lai Zhongliang is from Boluo, Guangdong. He is the Chairman of Guangdong Gexiantang Health Co., Ltd. and the Chairman of Guangdong Lai's Wanfangge Cultural Industry Investment Co., Ltd.
Mr. Lai Zhongliang has a long-standing hobby of collecting traditional Chinese medicine prescriptions and carefully studying them. Through the perfect combination of modern advanced production technology and traditional ancient methods, he produces medicinal and edible foods that are suitable for consumers to eat every day. Over the past few decades, Mr. Lai Zhongliang has collected more than 3000 traditional Chinese medicine prescriptions and produced over 100 types of food and medicinal products. He deeply realized that the true inheritance of traditional Chinese medicine requires not only efforts in formula testing, but also innovation in inheritance methods. These prescriptions are precious treasures left by ancient doctors. After thousands of years of transmission from generation to generation, he hopes to continue to pass on these good classic prescriptions through innovative research and development of medicinal and edible foods, helping more modern people improve their daily physical condition, prolong their health and vitality, and truly enhance their quality of life. Mr. Lai Zhongliang found that due to the influence of the cultural gap in traditional Chinese medicine, the vast majority of ancient Chinese medicine prescriptions are scattered among the people and not valued. If they are not collected and protected, a large part may be collected and studied by other countries or directly lost. After starting work, Mr. Lai Zhongliang began to consciously collect traditional Chinese medicine prescriptions.
Whenever he goes on a business trip or travels, Mr. Lai Zhongliang either rushes into antique markets or second-hand bookstores, or visits local traditional Chinese medicine practitioners to search for the scattered old prescriptions among the people. One year, Lai Zhongliang bought a Qing Dynasty Chinese medicine master Ye Gui's "Clinical Diagnosis Guide Medical Cases" from an antique market in Hangzhou. It detailed Ye Gui's lifelong practice of traditional Chinese medicine, and the detailed records of many prescriptions used in the book enlightened him. He loved this book even more.
Among the collected formulas, there are several that make his eyes light up and inspire him to develop.
One is Ge Hong's Huangjing Buyang Tang prescription. Mr. Lai Zhongliang accidentally discovered while organizing Ge Hong's traditional Chinese medicine classics that Mr. Lai had officially launched Huangjing Goji Berry Mulberry Tea, named Ge Xiantang, after years of innovative research and development based on the original prescription The Emperor.
The other is a genuine prescription of Ye Gui that he found in an antique market while on a business trip in Hangzhou. It is said to be a secret for Yang Guifei to stay and maintain her appearance.
